Purified Alkaline Water
Alkaline water can prove to be more beneficial than regular water. This type of water is capable of rejuvenating and rehydrating the skin more efficiently. Oxidation is the process where oxygen chemically bonds with other substances. This can damage and destroy cells resulting in different signs of aging and diseases. Alkaline water helps fight this age-promoting process. With its high negative oxidation reduction potential (ORP) level and alkaline mineral content, it can aid in flushing out free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Aloe vera
The healing effect of Aloe vera results from its ability to prevent injury to epithelial tissues, and promote healing of injured tissues. One of the main applications of Aloe is to soothe a variety of skin ailments such as sunburns, rashes, mild cuts, insect stings, bruises, poison ivy and eczema. The skin absorbs aloe vera up to four times faster than water; it appears to help the pores of the skin open and receive the moisture and nutrients of the plant. Meanwhile, zinc in Aloe acts as an astringent to tighten pores, and antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, also help prevent the formation of free radicals. Aloe vera is an antiseptic, containing six agents known to help inhibit fungi, bacteria, and viruses, including salicylic acid, phenols, and sulfur. Aloe vera gel inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanogenesis; suppressing UV-induced hyperpigmentation and the skin-damaging effects of sunburns. This mechanism may also help in the prevention of dark spots. Various antioxidants it contains (such as glutathione peroxidase) may fade sun damage that’s already formed.

Green Tea
Antioxidants are a powerful piece in the anti-aging puzzle because they work to reduce inflammation and free radicals that accelerate skin aging. Green tea is a particularly valuable ingredient when it comes to antioxidants because it contains Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a hard-to-find antioxidant that counters the effects of pollution, sun damage, and toxic chemicals. Drinking and applying green tea externally may fight skin cancer by promoting DNA repair. EGCG in green tea has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. EGCG is anti-androgenic and lowers lipid levels. Synergistically these properties make Green Tea Extract effective at reducing sebum excretions in the skin. By reducing sebum, EGCG can slow or stop the development of acne.

Bamboo
Bamboo is one of the richest natural sources of silica in the world. Silica is essential for optimal collagen synthesis and activation of hydroxylating enzymes, improving skin strength and elasticity. Although silica is a natural nutrient that everyone is born with and makes up a huge part of our collagen stores within the body, silica levels gradually decrease with age, which contributes to a reduction in skin’s overall elasticity and ability to heal wounds effectively. Not only does it help to replenish collagen stores and improve skin’s flexibility but it also supports the synthesis of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) which, when at their optimum level, prevent moisture loss within the skin.

Sea Buckthorn
Sea Buckthorn is just as renowned for its anti-aging benefits as it is for its skin healing benefits. Sea buckthorn repairs oxidative damage, hydrates the skin, and promotes the formation of collagen. Sea buckthorn contains an incredible 190 nutrients and phytonutrients. Vitamin C concentrations in sea buckthorn have been found to be 12 times higher than that of an orange. Sea buckthorn also contains vitamins B1, B2, K, C, A, and E, folic acid, an array of powerful antioxidants and minerals. Sea buckthorn is excellent for reducing acne breakouts because it signals the oil glands to stop creating excess amounts of sebum. Sea buckthorn reduces inflammation in the skin and helps to fade scars and promote an overall more even and smoother skin texture.

Reishi Mushroom
Reishi mushroom extracts catalyze enzymes eliminating damaging reactive oxygen species. Reishi mushroom benefits for skin are rooted in its antioxidant capacity. Reishi mushroom extract contains a high content of polysaccharides, responsible for the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water, and which are also imperative for skin repair and renewal. The extract also helps reduce skin inflammation, puffiness, wrinkles, and free radical damage, while promoting cell regeneration. Reishi mushrooms contain a powerful supply of what are known as beta-glucans, that help reduce and calm dry, itchy skin. Beta-glucans are special sugars from mushrooms that have the ability to modulate the immune system. They are also capable of penetrating deeply through multiple layers of skin which means healing results in places other ingredients may not reach. By deeply hydrating the skin the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be greatly reduced. Because it is also anti-inflammatory it can reduce swelling, calm redness in the skin, reduce flakiness, decrease the chances of allergic reaction in people with sensitive skin, and protect the skin against daily damage. Topical allergies and sensitivities to reishi mushroom are rare, meaning this mushroom is an ideal match for sensitive and dry skin types that need extra TLC. In fact mushrooms have even been documented to have anti-allergenic properties so they may actually work to balance sensitive skin and make it more resilient.
